Junior Science Olympiad in 2013 :India to host

AHMEDABAD: Indian students will have home advantage in Junior Science Olympiads next year as Mumbai will host over 300 students from 50 countries in December 2013 edition. The state students have already started preparations for the big event as the four-day orientation programme for the Olympiads came to an end on Sunday at the science city.

Prof Vijay Singh, the national coordinator of the Olympiad and scientist at Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education, Mumbai, was guest at the orientation programme for the state students preparing for national and international events at the science city.

“India will play host to 10th International Junior Science Olympiads (IJSO) at Mumbai in December 2013,” said Singh in his interaction with students and encouraged them to aim for the glory.

IJSO is a prestigious world competition held annually for ten days in the natural sciences for 15-year-old students from across the globe. Organizers said that Indian students had fared well in all the Olympiads organized so far.
